After reading Asher's chapter on scannable resumes I am very intrigued. It basically seems that potential employees can just enter in a huge amount of buzz words they think the employer will want to hear. For example, leadership, management, sales experience etc. therefore, when the resumes are "scanned" in the computer those words will match a resume and an interview might be scheduled. These seem shady because I could see a lot of people just putting keywords on their resumes that don't actually apply to them.

I agree with you in saying that people can just make up things that would make the scanner go "ding" in the various sections. But then you have to think when they go into an actual interview and they have in fact lied, it will show because they will have no information to back up what they put on their scannable resume. So even though it looks like a good idea to some people it comes to bite them in the butt so to speak in the end when they have that interview.
